What is PCOD?

PCOD disease (polycystic ovary disease) is a hormonal disorder found in women. In this disease, small cysts (small lumps) start forming in the ovaries of women, due to which the level of male hormones in the body of women starts increasing and their menstrual cycle becomes irregular.
Symptoms of PCOD

Some symptoms are seen in women with PCOD disease, let’s know about them –
- The first symptom of PCOD disease in women is that their menstruation becomes irregular, in some women menstruation starts before time and in some women it comes after time or does not come for many months.
- When there is a problem of PCOD, unwanted hair starts growing in women, this hair can grow on their face, above the lips, chest, back or buttocks, due to which they may feel embarrassed at times.
- When there is a problem of PCOD, women start having trouble conceiving.
- When there is PCOD disease, problems like weight gain start arising in women, which also becomes very difficult to reduce.
- When there is a problem of PCOD, women often start having the problem of headache.
- There can be some other reasons for PCOD like poor lifestyle of women, their unbalanced diet, alcohol or smoking, mental stress, these are some other reasons due to which there can be a risk of PCOD.
Causes of PCOD

There are many reasons for PCOD disease-
- When the insulin level increases in the body of women, then the problem of PCOD can occur.
- The level of androgen hormone starts increasing in the body of women, due to which the problem of PCOD can occur.
- PCOD is sometimes genetic which runs from one generation to the other.
- Irregular lifestyle of women, unbalanced diet and lack of exercise can also be the reason for this.
Treatment of PCOD
PCOD disease is not a serious disease but it is very important to be alert about it in time, otherwise these small lumps can grow big and turn into cancer.
- For this, you should reduce your weight, if you are overweight then you may have the problem of PCOD.
- You have to pay special attention to your diet, you should take a balanced diet which includes fruits, vegetables along with whole grains.
- You should exercise regularly so that you can reduce the problem of PCOD.
- You should take different types of medicines like contraceptive medicines, insulin resistance medicines or some other medicines which your doctor will give you.
