No entry in Delhi until August 12th; heavy vehicles will not be allowed for the Kanwar Yatra; route finalized

The Kanwar Yatra begins on 2026 July 30th, and a traffic advisory has been issued in response. Heavy vehicles are prohibited from entering Delhi. The government has also provided significant relief to devotees, with some special trains being run for their convenience. The Kanwar Yatra will begin on 2026 July 30th. Every year, millions of devotees travel to Delhi from various locations. Kanwariyas from across the world travel through Delhi to various destinations in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Keeping this in mind, the administration has designed routes to ensure that all heavy vehicles do not cause traffic congestion and inconvenience to devotees. A traffic advisory has been issued with this in mind.

Although the Yatra will continue until August 11th 2026, the arrival of Kanwariyas in Delhi has already begun, so preparations have begun. The traffic police have prepared a comprehensive plan. Let’s see which specific areas the district administration has focused on.

  • In view of the Kanwar Yatra, the administration has focused on areas of Delhi with heavy traffic congestion. The Eastern Range is a particular area.
  • An advisory has been issued in this area, and the DCP (Traffic) has stated that heavy vehicles are prohibited on GT Road, Wazirabad Road, Vikas Marg, Asha Ram Tyagi Marg, Pushta Road, and Loni Road from July 2026 29th to August 2026 12th.
  • It has also been stated that during the peak of the Yatra, movement in high-traffic areas will be restricted from the evening of August 9th, 2026 to the night of August 12th, 2026.

Special Trains Available

In view of the Kanwar Yatra, the government has also provided special and safe travel facilities for Kanwar Yatra pilgrims. Namo Bharat Trains will be available in every 8 minutes. Keeping in mind the increased crowds during the Kanwar Yatra, it has been decided to increase the number of trains on the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor from July 2026 30th to 2026 August 14th. Under this special train, Namo Bharat trains will be available in every 8 minutes. This special train service has already started. Apart from this, there are several routes where traffic jams are likely, diversions have also been started on those routes.

Besides, let us tell you that due to Kanwar Yatra, two special trains have been increased for Haridwar. Two special trains have also been started for the devotees going to the Kanwar fair. So this is the traffic Advisory which is given.
