New Delhi: The Southwest Monsoon is active across most Indian states, bringing rainfall to various regions. In many areas, the rain has brought the fast-paced rhythm of daily life to a halt. Conversely, while the monsoon has arrived in some regions, a lack of rainfall has created drought-like conditions. Temperatures have dropped following late-night rains in parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Rainfall continues in the northeastern states, where the situation remains grim.
Landslides in hilly areas have blocked several routes, disrupting movement. There is currently no sign of relief from the rain; the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall across 18 states. Details regarding the weather forecast for specific regions are provided below.
Rain Warning for Delhi-NCR
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for the national capital, Delhi. Weather activity is expected to intensify starting Tuesday, with a ‘Yellow Alert’ issued for Tuesday and Wednesday. Moderate rainfall and generally cloudy skies are forecast during this period. In Noida, adjacent to Delhi, the weather is expected to remain normal on July 26, with partly cloudy skies.
Rainfall activity is likely to increase from July 27, with the city expected to witness one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The IMD predicts generally cloudy skies for Noida on July 28 and 29, alongside a ‘Yellow Alert’ indicating the possibility of significant rainfall.
Adverse weather conditions are expected to persist in Gurugram for five days; rain is likely today amidst partly cloudy skies. Meanwhile, a warning for rain accompanied by partly cloudy skies has been issued for Ghaziabad for July 26.
Torrential Rain Alert for 18 States
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. The IMD indicates that spells of heavy rain are likely to continue in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Gujarat.
Warnings for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes have been issued for 18 states, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam. Strong winds blowing at speeds of 70 to 80 km/h are expected in several parts of these regions.
Weather Forecast for UP
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is likely in Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Agra, Mathura, Bahraich, and Saharanpur. Additionally, heavy rain may occur in several other districts, including Barabanki, Hardoi, Raebareli, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, and Jhansi.
Meanwhile, a heavy rain alert has been issued for Patna (the capital of Bihar) as well as Gaya, Rohtas, Nawada, Arwal, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Katihar, Buxar, and Bhojpur.
