New Delhi: The monsoon is proving to be a source of relief in some areas while turning into a calamity in others. Conversely, there are regions where monsoon cloud activity is visible, yet rainfall remains absent, leaving farmers’ crops parched. In several states, the monsoon has taken a ferocious turn; the coming days are unlikely to be easy for these regions, as the rain threatens to wreak havoc.
Heavy rainfall is occurring in the northeastern states, where landslides have also been reported. Meanwhile, various parts of South India are experiencing rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, leading to a drop in temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall across 13 states.
Heavy Rainfall Warning for 13 States
According to the Meteorological Department, warnings for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning have been issued for Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam. Alerts for heavy rain with thunderstorms have also been issued for Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
The IMD has issued alerts for torrential rain in Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh, and warned of severe rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, and other northeastern states. A warning has also been issued for fishermen; the department indicates that strong winds and adverse weather conditions are likely to persist across regions of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
Delhi Weather Forecast
The Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rainfall across most parts of Delhi throughout Tuesday. Several areas may witness spells of heavy rain, with thunderstorms and lightning likely between morning and afternoon. Winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 30–40 km/h to up to 50 km/h. Brief spells of very light to light rain are anticipated during the day. The IMD predicts that similar weather conditions will likely prevail on July 22 as well.
Weather Forecast for UP
The IMD has predicted torrential rainfall across Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain is expected in most areas between July 21 and July 26. A spell of heavy rain is likely to continue in most parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh on July 21, for which a ‘Red Alert’ has been issued. Warnings for heavy rainfall have also been issued for Eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 22 to 24 and for Western Uttar Pradesh from July 23 to 25.
Rainfall is likely in Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Hapur, and Baghpat. Additionally, spells of heavy rain may continue in Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Bareilly, Bijnor, and Amroha.
Furthermore, a rainfall warning has been issued for Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, and surrounding districts from July 21 to 25. Heavy rain is also expected in Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Raebareli, and Ayodhya.
