New Delhi: Various parts of the country are witnessing intense rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Intermittent rain has been continuing in different areas of Uttar Pradesh since morning, leading to a drop in temperatures. Heavy downpours in several parts of West Bengal have also caused temperatures to fall, bringing residents relief from the heat.
A drop in temperature is being observed across Bihar and Jharkhand due to rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Heavy rainfall is also occurring in the high-altitude regions of North India, causing rivers, streams, and ponds to overflow. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for various states across the country.
Heavy Rainfall Warning for 22 States
According to the IMD, a heavy rainfall warning has been issued for September 7 across 22 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, heavy rain is predicted for Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal.
The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura, and Meghalaya. Wind speeds of up to 50 km/h are expected in these areas. People have been urged to exercise caution due to the risk of lightning strikes.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
The IMD has issued a warning for moderate rainfall and strong winds in Delhi on September 7, with wind speeds expected to reach 30–40 km/h. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 34°C, while the minimum could drop to 26°C.
Heavy Rain Expected in UP
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is likely in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Pilibhit, Bahraich, and Sitapur. Heavy rain is also likely in Siddharthnagar, Kheri, Balrampur, Saharanpur, Sonbhadra, Badaun, and Lalitpur. Alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms have been issued for Gorakhpur, Etawah, Azamgarh, and Prayagraj. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius tomorrow, September 7.
Likelihood of heavy rain in Bihar
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Gaya, Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Siwan, Saran, Rohtas, Kaimur, and Jehanabad. Additionally, warnings for heavy rain have been issued for Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, Purnia, Kishanganj, and Araria.
Alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms have been issued for Bhagalpur, Munger, Begusarai, and Katihar, with warnings of strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h. The maximum temperature is forecast to be 32 degrees Celsius on September 7.
Rain alert for Jharkhand as well
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dumka, Palamu, Gumla, Chatra, Deoghar, and Godda. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are predicted for Hazaribagh, Seraikela, West Singhbhum, and Bokaro, with expected wind gusts reaching speeds of 50 km/h.
