Monsoon Forecast: Delhi to See Heavy Rain for 3 Days, Alert Issued for UP and Uttarakhand Too

New Delhi: Monsoon rains have brought life to a standstill across various parts of India. Heavy downpours and waterlogged roads are making it difficult for commuters to travel. From South India to the Northeastern states, the heavy rain has become a source of trouble, causing distress to everyone.

Monsoon clouds have gathered over most parts of North India as well, though actual rainfall is still awaited. Late night rains in regions including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have caused disruptions. Amidst the advancing monsoon, the threat of rain and thunderstorms looms over several states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall in many areas of the country. Furthermore, winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 60 to 80 kilometres per hour during this period.

Today’s Weather in Delhi

A spell of rain is set to begin in the national capital, Delhi, starting today (Sunday). This rainy spell is expected to continue for three days, up to July 7. According to the IMD, rain and thunderstorms could commence in the capital today, likely leading to a drop in temperature. Cloudy skies are expected over Delhi today, accompanied by the likelihood of light rain starting in the morning. The IMD has also issued an alert for thunderstorms.

Rainfall Forecast for Uttar Pradesh

The Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, where monsoon activity has intensified significantly. The IMD expects rain across most parts of the state between July 5 and July 10. Alerts have been issued for rainfall in the Purvanchal region on July 5–6 and in various parts of Western Uttar Pradesh from July 5 to July 7.

According to IMD reports, rainfall warnings have been issued for Eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 7 to July 10 and for Western Uttar Pradesh from July 8 to July 10. Heavy rainfall is expected across various areas of Eastern UP from July 8 to 10 and Western UP from July 9 to 10. People have been urged to exercise caution due to the risk of lightning strikes.

Rainfall in Bihar

The IMD has forecast intermittent rainfall across various parts of Bihar. According to the IMD, rain is likely in several areas of the state between July 5 and 10. Spells of heavy rain may occur in some places on July 6–7 and July 10. The Meteorological Department also predicts winds blowing at speeds of up to 40 kmph in several areas between July 5 and 8. Warnings have been issued for thunderstorms and lightning strikes alongside strong winds.

Weather in Uttarakhand

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across most parts of Uttarakhand. Heavy downpours are likely in most areas over the next six days, from July 5 to 10.

Additionally, spells of very heavy rainfall may occur in some places on July 5. Between July 6 and 10, rainfall could lead to landslides and waterlogging in several locations. There is also a risk of rising river water levels.
