New Delhi: Monsoon activity has intensified once again across most parts of North India, leading to rainfall in various areas and a subsequent drop in temperatures. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate further in the coming hours. Heavy rainfall is forecast for Northwest, East, and Northeast India over the next 6 to 7 days.
Warnings for heavy monsoon rains have been issued for regions stretching from Jammu & Kashmir to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. The coming days may prove difficult, as heavy downpours could create trouble for residents. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall in several states. Detailed weather updates are provided below.

Heavy Rainfall Warnings for Several States
According to the IMD, warnings for intense rainfall have been issued for multiple locations in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Thunderstorms in several areas could also pose challenges. The IMD has issued a heavy rain alert for West Bengal and Sikkim for July 19.
Alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Uttarakhand (July 19–20) and for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh (July 20–21). A spell of heavy rain has already commenced in Jammu & Kashmir; a warning has been issued for low-lying areas in Rajouri due to torrential downpours. Local authorities have advised the public to avoid non-essential travel.
Heavy Rain Expected in Delhi and Other Regions
The IMD has predicted a continued increase in monsoon activity across Northwest India. Heavy rain alerts have been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Western and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience heavy rainfall at several locations through July 24.
A warning for heavy rainfall has also been issued for Western Uttar Pradesh between July 22 and July 24. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall for Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab on July 19 and between July 20 and 22. Heavy rain is also expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu. A spell of intense rainfall is likely to continue across several states, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Additionally, thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong winds gusting between 40 and 60 kmph are anticipated.
Rainfall Warning for Bihar and West Bengal
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for West Bengal and Sikkim in East India for July 19. Heavy rain is likely in several areas of Bihar until July 20. Warnings for heavy rainfall over the coming days have also been issued for Jharkhand and Odisha.

In Northeast India, widespread rainfall is expected throughout the week across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Warnings for very heavy rainfall have been issued for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, with the possibility of very heavy rain in these regions on July 19 and 20 as well.
