New Delhi: The monsoon has become active once again across most parts of India, bringing rainfall. Continuous, heavy downpours have caused temperatures to drop, providing people with relief from the heat. In contrast, Delhi-NCR and Western UP have seen sunny skies since morning; the resulting temperature rise is forcing residents to endure humid, sticky heat.
Rainfall has brought temperatures down in the mountainous regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Persistent rain is also disrupting normal life in the northeastern states. Rainfall is occurring in various parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast significant rainfall across 11 states, including Uttar Pradesh, over the next 24 hours.
Three active rain systems
According to the Meteorological Department, three monsoon systems appear to be highly active. Consequently, alerts for torrential rain have been issued for several states. A ‘Red Alert’ for rain has been issued for the Gujarat region and the central region of Maharashtra. Similarly, alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.
Heavy rainfall is also expected in Tripura and Goa. The IMD has predicted heavy rain for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Assam. Additionally, warnings for heavy rainfall have been issued for Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
Heavy rain warning for UP and Bihar
According to the IMD, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in Lucknow, Kanpur, Mirzapur, Badaun, and Sitapur. Alerts for heavy rainfall have also been issued for Barabanki, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Mathura, Agra, and Meerut. The IMD has noted a spell of good rainfall over the past 24 hours.
Wind speeds are expected to reach 60 to 70 kmph in these areas. The IMD has also predicted active monsoon conditions for Bihar. Heavy rainfall is expected across various districts of Bihar, including Patna, Bhagalpur, Purnia, and Katihar. A drop in temperature is likely due to the rain.
Good rainfall expected in Delhi-NCR as well
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for rain and thunderstorms. Wind speeds in the Delhi-NCR region are expected to range between 60 and 70 km/h. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in various parts of Delhi-NCR, with temperatures likely to reach up to 39 degrees Celsius.
Weather forecast for the next 3 to 4 days
The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for significant rainfall in northwestern and northeastern states from July 23 to 25. Meanwhile, the monsoon is expected to remain fully active over the next 3 to 4 days. Warnings for heavy rainfall have been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh for the period of July 23–25. A change in weather is also expected in Delhi-NCR between July 23 and 25, with a possibility of rain.
