New Delhi: Monsoon rains are currently at their peak, causing rivers, drains, and ponds to overflow. Nature’s fury has left lakhs of people homeless in Assam, where the situation is deteriorating rapidly. According to the latest reports, 78 people have lost their lives due to the floods in Assam so far, and rescue operations for those stranded are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the threat of rain looms over several states again. Early morning heavy rainfall in parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir has led to a drop in temperatures. Rainy spells continue in southern and northeastern states as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for torrential rain across 22 states. Details regarding the weather forecast for these regions are provided below.
Heavy Rain Warning for 22 States
The Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain warnings for 22 states over the next 3 to 4 days. The IMD has alerted various areas in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh about heavy downpours. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
Heavy rain is also likely in Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Puducherry, and Arunachal Pradesh. People have been urged to exercise caution due to the possibility of strong winds and lightning strikes.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
According to the IMD, a warning for torrential rain has been issued for Delhi and the entire NCR region for July 30. The department has issued a stricter warning for this date. Today, the capital is expected to see a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum of 25°C.
Significantly, there is also a likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning on July 30. For July 31, the IMD forecasts light to moderate rain, with temperatures expected to range between 34°C and 26°C.
Rain Likely in UP
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon is expected to remain active in the state starting July 30. Light to moderate rainfall is likely at several places in Western Uttar Pradesh over the next two days. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall could commence in Eastern Uttar Pradesh between August 2 and August 4. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning strikes in several areas.
Rain is expected in the districts of Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Hapur. Rain warnings have been issued for Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Moradabad, Rampur, Amroha, and Sambhal.
Heavy Rain Expected in Bihar Too
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall is likely in most parts of Bihar from July 31 to August 4. Light to moderate rain is expected in some areas until July 30, with warnings of heavy rain issued for several districts starting July 31. The IMD also forecasts strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph between July 30 and August 4.
