Why and how did the Manipur violence start?

Manipur Violence started in May 2023, where violent clashes took place between two communities, including the majority Meitei and the minority Kuki, in which more than 130 people were killed and more than 400 people were injured. And more than 60,000 people were displaced. After this, action was taken by the administration and the army, paramilitary forces and police were sent for ceasefire.
During this, both the communities committed fierce violence and both the communities committed incidents of vandalism and arson. The reason for this violence is the demand of the Meitei community in Manipur where they want that like the Kuki, they should also be given the status of Scheduled Tribe (ST) in the state.
