- Sugar
- Turmeric powder
- Baking soda or Eno
- Oil
- Mustard seeds
- Green chilies
- Curry leaves
- Lemon juice
Complete method of preparation:
Since you are making dhokla in a pressure cooker without a steamer, first you need to take gram flour in a large bowl. Now add salt to taste and turmeric powder to this gram flour, and then add water to make a thick batter. Once the batter is ready, set it aside for some time to soften. Now, turn on the gas stove on a low flame and place the pressure cooker on it. Add one cup of water to the cooker. Now, place a metal stand inside the cooker, making sure the stand doesn’t touch the bottom surface of the cooker.
Now, add a little baking soda to the batter you prepared. You can also use Eno instead of baking soda to make it fluffy. Adding baking soda or Eno makes your dhokla very soft and fluffy. That’s why adding it is important.
After this, spread the batter evenly in a plate or tray.
Now, place this tray on the metal stand inside the pressure cooker. After placing the tray on the metal stand, close the lid of the cooker and let it cook for 15 minutes. Make sure the cooker is without the whistle.
Now, heat some oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Let them splutter lightly. Once everything splutters well, take out the dhokla tray from the pressure cooker after 15 minutes and pour this tempered oil mixture over the dhokla.
Finally, add a little water and lemon juice on top, cut it into pieces as per your liking, and serve. Your amazing and tasty dhokla, made without a steamer, is ready!
