Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme
Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme is a scheme run by the Maharashtra government, which benefits families living below the poverty line. Under this scheme, eligible families are given an amount of ₹50,000 on the birth of the first girl child and ₹25,000 in the name of each girl child on the birth of two girls. The interest can be withdrawn by the family every 6 years.
What is Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme?
This is a scheme of Maharashtra Government under which financial assistance is given on the birth of a girl child. In this, ₹50000 is paid on the birth of the first girl child and ₹25000 is paid on the birth of the second girl child. For this, some eligibility criteria have also been set for the applicants. Its benefits are given only to eligible families. This scheme encourages the birth of a girl child and their education.
Objective of the Scheme
Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme’s main objective is to increase the birth rate of girls and encourage them for education. For this, the government provides Rs. 50,000 on the birth of the first girl child and Rs. 25,000 each on the birth of two girls. The interest earned on this amount can be withdrawn by the parents every six years. This encourages the birth and education of girls and helps in preventing child marriage. This scheme also encourages taking good care of the health of girls so that boys and girls are treated equally by the society and they can get a proper place in the society.

- Under this scheme a fixed deposit of ₹50,000 is given on the birth of a girl child and on the birth of two girls
- A fixed deposit of ₹25000 is given to each child, the interest earned through this scheme can be withdrawn by the parents of the girls every 6 years,
- An overdraft of ₹5000 and accident insurance of up to ₹100000 is also given on the account opened under this scheme
- A fixed deposit certificate is given on the birth of a girl child
- The benefit of this scheme is available to girls born after August 1, 2017.
Eligibility
- To avail the benefits of Majhi Kanya bhagyashree Scheme, the applicant must be a native of Maharashtra
- The benefits of this scheme will be given only to BPL and APL families
- Under this scheme, twin girls born to the first girl child and the second girl child will also be given the benefit
- To avail the benefits of this scheme, girls can take the benefit after 1st August 2017
- Under this scheme, the benefit is available for two girls only after submitting the family planning certificate
- To avail the benefits of this scheme, the annual income of the applicant’s family should be less than 7.5 lakh rupees.

To apply for Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme, one can apply by visiting its official website or by getting its application form free of cost from Anganwadi center and filling all the necessary information in it and submitting it at Anganwadi center. After this, the application form is checked by the concerned officials and if found eligible, its benefit is given.
