Mahindra & Mahindra has once again shared its ambitious plans for the Indian Auto market. The company said it will continue to focus strongly on its core SUV and electric vehicle segments. By offering premium and unique models, Mahindra wants to make its position stronger in the domestic passenger vehicle market. The Mumbai-based automaker also made it clear that it is not planning to add CNG or other alternative fuel technologies to its product range for now, in order to protect its distinct brand identity.
R. Velusamy President of Mahindra & Mahindra’s automative business, told PTI that the company is focused on ICE and electric vehicles and is growing steadily in both areas. he said customers in Mahindra’s personal vehicle range prefer products that stand out and do not want mass-market models. He also made it clear that the company does not have any plans to enter the MPV segment at present, as its strategy is to stay focused on premium and distinctive vehicles.
Mahindra’s commitment to SUV segment remains strong. Velusamy said that the company plans to launch several new SUV models over the next four years. Along with this, Mahindra is also pushing hard in the electric vehicle space. It has set a target to sell around 7,000 Electric vehicles by the end of the 2025-26 financial year, showing its serious focus on growing its EV business in India.

Strong Growth in Electric Vehicles
Mahindra has seen strong growth in its electric vehicle business over the past seven months. Through its BE 6 and XEV 9 models, the company has sold more than 30,000 EV units, earning around Rs.8000 crore in revenue. This shows rising demand for Mahindra’s electric cars in the market. Looking ahead, the company aims to make electric vehicles about 25% of its total sales by 2028, highlighting its long-term commitment to clean and future ready mobility.
