Mahindra & Mahindra has partnered with south Korean electronics company Samsung to create a digital car key for its electric SUV’s. this new feature will work with Samsung wallet, allowing driver to lock, unlock and access their vehicles using their smartphones. with this technology, there will be no need to carry a physical car key. According to a PTI Report, Samsung India’s senior director for services and Apps business, Madhapur Chaturvedi, shared this update on Wednesday, he also said that Mahindra has become the first Indian automobile company to introduce this kind of digital car key system for its vehicles, marking a big step in smart mobility.

According to the report, Samsung wallet has already been supporting digital car keys in India for global brand like BMW, BYD and Mercedes-Benz. Now, the same service will be extended to Mahindra’s electric SUV as well. This feature will be available for Samsung wallet users on galaxy z and galaxy s series smartphones. Madhur Chaturvedi said that Mahindra’s first electric SUV with this digital key system built in will go on sale from November 2025. for the customers who already own Mahindra vehicles, the digital key feature will be added later through a phased rollout, making it accessible to more users over time.

Madhur Chaturvedi said that existing Mahindra car owners will need to visit an authorized Mahindra service center to get a software update in order to use the digital car key feature. once updated, the feature will allow the users to access their vehicle through the samsung wallet on their smartphones. he added that the digital key will work on Samsung galaxy Z and Galaxy S series devices launched after 2020. the company is also planning to extend this support to galaxy a series phone in the near future. This move will make the technology available to a wider group of users across different Samsung models.

Madhur Chaturvedu explained that the digital key will continue to work even if the phone’s atter runs out. thanks to NFC technology, the phone can still lock and unlock the car using its remaining power, even when it is switched off. user just need to tap their phone of the car to open or close the doors. they can also turn teh ignition on or off while keeping the phone on the charging stand.
