Commercial cylinder prices are currently quite low in the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district. A peculiar trend has emerged here: some distributors are selling 19-kg cylinders at prices significantly lower than the government-mandated rates.
According to a News18 report, some gas agencies in rural UP are selling commercial LPG cylinders at prices ₹200 to ₹600 lower than the official rate. While the government-fixed price for a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Kushinagar is around ₹2,946, some customers are purchasing them for between ₹2,400 and ₹2,700.

This drop in gas cylinder prices is not being initiated by the oil marketing companies. Commercial gas cylinders are being sold at a discount here primarily because the demand for them is low in rural areas and small towns.
Typically, 19-kg LPG cylinders are used by restaurants, hotels, food stalls, sweet shops, and catering businesses. While there is significant demand from these sectors in smaller markets, some agencies have accumulated excess stock, which is now being cleared through discounted sales.
No relief on domestic cylinders
Meanwhile, there has been no change in the prices of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders used in households on Wednesday; prices remain completely stable. Today, the price stands at ₹944 in Delhi, ₹941.50 in Mumbai, ₹968.50 in Kolkata, and ₹947.50 in Chennai. Similarly, there is no change in the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder across the country; in Delhi, it is priced at ₹2,747.50.
