Jauhar University has been in the news these days. The demolition of 38 buildings has been a constant topic of discussion. Meanwhile, a hearing was scheduled for Monday, but new information has now emerged regarding the matter. The hearing regarding senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s Jauhar University in Rampur was postponed on Monday. The next hearing is scheduled for August 13th. The hearing was postponed because it was the second Monday of the month of Sawan. Advocates decided to abstain from judicial work on the second Monday of Sawan. Consequently, the hearing was postponed. The next hearing is scheduled for August 13th.
This matter came to light when the Vice Chairman of the Rampur Development Authority (RDA) and the District Magistrate declared 38 of Azam Khan’s 40 buildings at Jauhar University illegal, sparking nationwide debate. On July 15th, 38 of the university’s 40 buildings were declared illegal. An ultimatum was also issued to the university. As soon as this news broke, students protested outside the university and presented their views.
As soon as the university was given a 20-day deadline, advocate Junaid Ejaz, representing the university management, filed an appeal in the Commissioner’s Court on July 20th. The hearing was scheduled for July 28th. The day before the scheduled hearing was declared a day of mourning due to the death of an advocate, and the case was heard the day before. The appeal for an earlier hearing was filed in the Commissioner’s Court, meaning the hearing took place on July 28th.
This was after the Moradabad Commissioner heard the appeal against the demolition order of 38 buildings of Jauhar University, filed by the Vice Chairman of the Rampur Development Authority and the District Magistrate, and stayed the order.
The next hearing is scheduled for August 13th. Both the university’s lawyers and the Rampur Development Authority (RDA) will present their arguments and positions. All eyes are now on the next hearing. A decision will be made only after hearing both sides.
Jauhar University
Jauhar University is located in Ranipur and was established in 2026 by the Mohammed Ali Jauhar Ali Trust. It is a private college affiliated with the UGC.
A stay has been imposed on the demolition of the Bta de jo. This stay was imposed by Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh, who is also the Chairman of the Rampur Development Authority. It is believed that this stay has brought significant relief. It should be noted that a petition was filed against the Rampur Development Authority, in response to which the Divisional Commissioner decided to impose an interim stay.
