November 1, 2026 • Vipin Kumar• 3 mins read

New Delhi: The opposition remains firm in its demand for the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, following the controversy over the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) process. The ‘INDIA’ bloc is set to hold a rally in the national capital, Delhi, today. All parties within the INDIA alliance, including the Congress, have put in their full strength to ensure this rally becomes a historic event. Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav are also expected to arrive at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. The Delhi Police has made elaborate security arrangements for the event.

The rally will commence from Connaught Place, passing through the Minto Road junction and Ajmeri Gate, before reaching Ramlila Maidan. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has appealed to the public to participate in large numbers. The Delhi Police is keeping a close watch on the proceedings; senior officials, including the Police Commissioner, have visited Ramlila Maidan to review the arrangements.

What are the Delhi Police’s preparations?

Extensive administrative and security arrangements have been put in place for the INDIA bloc’s rally in the national capital. The Delhi Police has deployed approximately 4,000 personnel along the route of the march, supplemented by units from paramilitary forces. The Ramlila Maidan area has been divided into 14 security zones.

Each zone has been placed under the supervision of an officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner. To monitor for any disruptive elements, the authorities will utilise over 200 CCTV cameras, drones, and body-worn cameras. A dedicated control room has also been set up to oversee the situation within the grounds.

Traffic movement to be affected on several routes

Due to the opposition’s rally, traffic movement will be disrupted on several routes. It is advisable to check the available routes before heading out. Between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, commuters will need to use alternative routes. Traffic diversions have been implemented at several key intersections, including ITO, Delhi Gate, Raj Ghat, Ajmeri Gate, and Turkman Gate. Commuters are advised to avoid routes in the vicinity of Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Minto Road, and Deshbandhu Gupta Road.

Special arrangements will be made to facilitate the movement of ambulances and emergency vehicles heading toward LNJP and GB Pant hospitals. Passengers travelling to the New Delhi Railway Station are also advised to plan their journey. The Delhi Police stated that the rally at Ramlila Maidan is being held with official permission; however, no application was received for a proposed procession starting from the Minto Road-Connaught Place intersection.
