Suryakumar Yadav will lead Team India in the 5-match T20 series against England. He is the captain of the T20 team but is not part of the ODI team.

Indian T20 captain and aggressive batsman Suryakumar Yadav expressed his disappointment over not making the Champions Trophy team. He said his biggest regret is not performing well in ODIs. Suryakumar was not included in the 15-member Indian squad for the Champions Trophy. However, he will continue to lead the team in the 5-match T20 series against England, starting on January 22, under the captaincy of Jos Buttler.
No Regrets
Suryakumar Yadav is considered one of the most explosive T20 batsmen due to his ability to play big shots effortlessly across the field. However, he has struggled to carry his T20 success into the ODI format. In 37 ODIs, he has scored 773 runs at an average of 25.76. On the eve of the T20 series against England, when asked if he felt disappointed about not making the Champions Trophy team, Suryakumar said, “Why would I be disappointed? If I perform well in ODIs, I’ll make the team. If not, then I won’t. There’s no problem in accepting that.”
A Strong Champions Trophy Squad
He also expressed that the Champions Trophy squad is an excellent one, filled with players who have consistently performed well. He added that he is happy for them, as they deserve their spots in the team. Suryakumar acknowledged that his own failure to perform in the ODI format was the reason he didn’t make the squad. He stated that the players who have performed well are deserving of their places. He also mentioned that if Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami stay fit after their injuries, they could form a “dangerous combination” in the Champions Trophy.
