IMD
As the monsoon gains strength across northern India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand. These regions are likely to witness intense showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the next few days. The alert aims to prepare residents for possible disruptions while urging authorities to remain vigilant against potential flooding or landslides.

Heavy Rain Likely in Several North Indian States
According to IMD forecasts, eastern Uttar Pradesh, north-central Bihar, and many hilly regions of Uttarakhand are in the path of an active monsoon trough. A low pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal is pushing moist air toward the north, leading to increased cloud formation and precipitation.
- Uttar Pradesh: Districts like Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Lucknow may experience moderate to heavy rainfallaccompanied by thunderstorms.
- Bihar: Northern areas, particularly near the Nepal border, can expect continuous rain which might lead to waterlogging in urban and low-lying zones.
- Uttarakhand: The hilly regions, including Dehradun, Nainital, and Pauri, are on alert for cloudbursts and landslides, especially in the higher altitudes.
Local authorities in these states have already begun advising residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel.

Weather in Delhi: Pleasant with a Chance of Rain
While neighboring states are seeing heavy downpours, Delhi is expected to remain relatively stable today. The national capital may see partly cloudy skies, with intermittent light rain or drizzle likely in some parts of the city. The temperature is expected to range between 27°C to 35°C, offering a brief respite from the intense summer heat.
Humidity will remain on the higher side, making the weather feel a bit sticky, especially during the afternoon hours. Winds from the southeast at 10–15 km/h are expected to keep the air moving, contributing to slightly better air quality.

Advisory for the Public
With intense rain predicted in parts of north India, the IMD and local disaster management teams recommend the following safety tips:
- Avoid traveling to hilly or landslide-prone regions in Uttarakhand.
- Stay away from waterlogged roads and open drains in UP and Bihar.
- Keep emergency supplies like flashlights, dry food, and drinking water at hand.
- Follow updates from local weather departments and district authorities.
Monsoon Outlook
The overall monsoon activity in North India is expected to remain strong over the next week, with frequent spells of rain in most states. This may aid in improving water levels in reservoirs and support agricultural activities but could also pose challenges if the rain intensifies rapidly.
Stay updated with local weather bulletins and remain cautious if you are living or traveling in affected regions.
