- Due to cold wind, people often use heaters in homes to escape the cold, due to which the moisture present in the air starts getting depleted and the skin becomes lifeless.
- Using harsh soaps and products containing too much alcohol for bathing depletes the moisture of the skin.
- Not taking a balanced diet shows its effect on the skin.
Symptoms of dry skin

When you have dry skin, you notice many changes in your skin, due to which you need to take special care of it-
- Immediately after bathing, the skin feels tight.
- The joints of the fingers and toes appear cracked.
- The skin appears dull or lifeless.
- White streaks or scales appear on the skin.
- The skin becomes constantly itchy, increasing the risk of infection.
Ways to avoid dry skin

Dry skin is not a big problem but you can make your skin healthy and glowing by taking some precautions –
- Use lukewarm water for bathing.
- Apply a good moisturizer immediately after washing your face at night.
- To keep yourself hydrated, drink 7-8 glasses of water throughout the day, apart from this keep consuming coconut water and lemon water.
- Eat a balanced diet which includes green vegetables like spinach, broccoli along with carrots, peas and fruits rich in Vitamin C.
- Use heater and blower in limited quantity because running a room heater also eliminates the humidity of the room.
- Do not wear woolen clothes directly, rather wear some cotton clothes inside them and then wear woolen clothes.
Home remedies for dry skin
You can also adopt some home remedies to get rid of dry skin in winters –
- Wash your skin thoroughly before going to bed at night and apply aloe vera gel on it.
- It repairs your cracked skin and enhances the glow of the skin.
- Add a few drops of olive oil to your bath water; it keeps your skin moist and soft.
- Apply a paste of honey and fresh cream on your face for 10 minutes and wash it off; it softens the skin from within.
