Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second largest carmaker, has stopped producing its flagship ICE (Internal Combustion Engine model, the Hyundai Tucson, in India. The SUV was part of the company’s premium lineup and was priced between Rs.27.32 lakh and Rs.33.64 Lakh. The sudden discontinuation of the Tucson has surprised many car buyer’s ad automobile enthusiasts. This is because the Tucson was considered one of the Hyundai’s safest and most technologically advanced SUVs in the Indian Market. The move has raised questions among customers about why the company decided to end the production and high-performing model.
The Company has also issued an official statement confirming that the Hyundai Tucson has been discontinued from the Indian Market. However, Hyundai assured that all existing Tucson owners will continue to receive full service, maintenance and customer support without any interruption. The company further explained that this decision aligns with its customer-centric philosophy and its global brand vision, progress for humanity. According to Hyundai, every major step the company takes is guided by the long-term planning, changing market needs, and the goal of offering more better technology and mobility solutions. while the discontinuation may disappoint some customers, Hyundai says the move is part of its strategy to focus on future-ready products and improved customer experience.

According to the recent reports, the sales of the Hyundai Tucson had been quite low for the past few months. Between April and October 2025, the company could sell only around 450 units. In India, the demand for 5-seater SUV’s priced above Rs.25 lakh is very low, while 7-Seater SUVs are much more popular among the buyers. the Tucson was fully imported and then assembled at Hyundai’s Chennai plant, which further increases its overall cost. Due to its high price and limited demand in its segment, the SUV struggled to attract enough customers, leading to its discontinuation in the market.
