Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second largest carmaker, has stopped making its flagship petrol and diesel SUV, the Tucson in India. This premium SUV was priced between 27.32 Lakh and Rs.33.64 Lakh ex-showroom and was part of Hyundai’s top end lineup. the sudden move has surprised many car lovers because the Tucson was known for its high safety standards and advanced technology. it was one of the Hyundia’s most modern and well-equipped SUVs in the Indian market. With its production now stopped, buyers will no longer be able to book this popular model, making the end of an important chapter for Hyundai in India.
Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai has officially confirmed that the Tucson has been discontinued in the Indian market. In its statement, the company said that even though production has stopped, it will continue to provide full service and support to all existing tucson owners. Hyundai also explained that this decision matches its customers-focused approach and its global brand vision of progress for Humanity. The company aims to focus on future-ready vehicles and new technologies that better meet changing customers needs. while the tucson was a strong and premium SUV, Hyundai believes this move will help it prepare for the next phase of growth in India with more advanced, efficient, and customer friendly models in the coming years.

According to reports, sales of the Hyundai Tucson had been very low over the past few months. Between april and october 2025, the company managed to sell only 450 units. In India 5-seater SUVs priced above Rs.25 lakh do not see strong demand, while 7-seater SUVs are much more popular among buyers. Another major reason was the Tucson high cost. The SUV was fully imported and then assembled at Hyundai’s chennai plant, which made it more expensive than locally produced models. because of these factors, the Tucson struggled to attract enough customers in the competitive premium SUV segment.
Even after the recent cut in GST rates, Hyundai had reduced the Tucson’s price by up to Rs.2.40 lakh to attract more buyers, but it failed to boost sales. The SUV continued to struggle in the market despite the heavy price drop. With the Tucson now discontinued, Hyundai’s SUV lineup in India includes popular models like Exter, Venue, Creta and Alcazar. Among these, the venue, Creta are currently some of the best-selling SUVs in the country. these models have gained strong customer because of their competitive pricing features and fuel efficiency, helping Hyundai maintain a strong position in India’s fast-growing SUV market.
