New Delhi: Rainfall has disrupted the pace of life across most parts of India. Flooding has made daily life difficult in several areas, causing significant hardship. Following rains across various parts of the country on September 5, rivers, drains, and ponds are overflowing. Rainfall has continued since this morning in several states, including Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
There appears to be little chance of relief from the monsoon rains, and the continuously worsening situation is causing widespread concern. Heavy rains have also made life miserable in the northeastern states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across 24 states.
Alert for Heavy Rain and Storms in Delhi-NCR
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall for Delhi and the surrounding NCR regions. According to the IMD, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram on Sunday. Strong winds, reaching speeds of around 50 km/h, are also expected. The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to hover between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius.
A drop in temperature and pleasant weather conditions are expected due to the rain. A temperature drop was recorded on Saturday following continuous heavy rainfall in Delhi and adjacent areas. However, the weather is likely to remain dry in these regions on September 8.
Rain Forecast for Maharashtra
According to the Meteorological Department, a rain warning has been issued for Maharashtra for the next three days. Light to moderate rainfall is expected until September 8. Monsoon rains are anticipated in the Konkan-Goa region, while other parts of the state may also experience spells of rain.
Rain is likely in several districts of Marathwada and Central Maharashtra. Areas where rainfall is predicted include Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli, Dharashiv, Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Dhule, and Nandurbar.
Heavy Rain Likely in UP Too
According to the Meteorological Department, a heavy rain warning has been issued for several districts of Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rainfall is expected in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Bijnor, Badaun, Pilibhit, Sitapur, and Kanpur. Adverse weather conditions are also likely to persist in Shahjahanpur, Raebareli, Unnao, Etawah, Azamgarh, Ayodhya, Deoria, and Gorakhpur.
Rain Expected in These States As Well
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain for Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Goa, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur, as well as in Puducherry. People in these areas are urged to exercise caution due to the likelihood of lightning strikes.
