Once again, earthquake tremors were felt in Nepal, a neighboring country of India. The tremors occurred in the Darchula district of western Nepal. On Tuesday, the earthquake’s magnitude was recorded at 4.4 on the Richter scale. Authorities have shared information about the earthquake. However, there are no reports of any damage to life or property. People rushed out of their homes due to the earthquake.

According to the National Seismological Center, the epicenter of the 4.4 magnitude earthquake was located in the Tolijaisi area of Dailekh district. Tremors were also felt in nearby districts like Achham, Kalikot, and Surkhet. Authorities reported that the earthquake struck at 5:20 PM local time in Dailekh.
Why Do Earthquakes Happen?
Recently, there has been an increase in earthquake incidents in various parts of the world. The Earth’s interior consists of seven tectonic plates that constantly move. Sometimes, these plates collide or experience friction, which causes earthquakes. The biggest impact of earthquakes is on human life, as buildings collapse, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people.
Earthquake Zones in India
According to geologists, nearly 59% of India’s land is considered sensitive to earthquakes. Scientists have divided the country into four earthquake zones: Zone-2, Zone-3, Zone-4, and Zone-5. Zone-5 is the most sensitive, while Zone-2 is less sensitive. Delhi, the capital of India, falls under Zone-4, where earthquakes of magnitude 7 or higher could occur, causing severe damage.
