The two nations are locked in a fierce confrontation, causing the situation to deteriorate further. The Middle East remains gripped by tension, with conditions continuing to worsen. On Friday, US President Donald Trump issued a specific appeal to allied nations.
He urged them to accept slightly higher petrol prices, stating at a political rally in Garden City, New York, that paying a bit more for fuel is a fair price to ensure a “very bad country” does not acquire nuclear weapons. Efforts to pave the way for peace between Iran and the US are ongoing, though success remains elusive.
Donald Trump Issues Stern Warning to Iran
US President Donald Trump declared that, upon defeating Iran, he would designate the Strait of Hormuz as US territory. Obstacles to a ceasefire persist, and he noted that this standoff has halted the movement of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
A day after Trump vowed to bring Hormuz under US control, Iran stated on Saturday that the US must acknowledge the reality of its defeat. The US military continues to inflict heavy damage on Iran, creating a somber atmosphere in some areas.
Standoff Between the US and Iran Continues
The confrontation between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz persists, severely jeopardizing the shipping of crude oil and natural gas through this waterway. Iran subsequently asserted that the strait would be opened or closed solely at its command. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, took to the social media platform X to address the issue.
He wrote on X that Iran would maintain the blockade until the US accepts reality and stops indulging in fantasies. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi also stated that Iran has not decided to resume negotiations with the US.
How long has the conflict been going on?
It is worth noting that a conflict between the US and Iran has been ongoing for quite some time. A state of tension has persisted continuously since February 28, 2026. The US and Iran have sat at the negotiating table on several occasions, but the results have been nil. Currently, tensions remain between the two nations regarding the Strait of Hormuz. A large number of these casualties are soldiers and government employees. If the tension continues in this manner, the death toll could also rise.
