Cooking Recipe

Soak the Moong Dal and Rice:

First, soak the moong dal. You need to soak it for about 3 to 4 hours. At the same time, soak the rice for about 4 hours.

Prepare the Batter

After 4 hours, drain the water from both the moong dal and rice. Then, blend them together in a mixer until you get a smooth batter.

To this batter, add green chilies, ginger, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), and half a cup of water. Also, add salt to taste.

Heat the Pan

Now, turn on the gas and place a non-stick pan on the stove. When the pan is slightly heated, add oil or ghee. Spread the prepared batter in a round shape on the pan. The batter should form a thick layer.

Cook the Dosa

Let it cook for about 3 minutes until it turns slightly golden brown.

Optional Flavoring

You can now sprinkle chopped onions, curry leaves, coriander leaves, or grated coconut on top while the dosa cooks.

Flip and Cook the Other Side

After 3 minutes, flip the dosa to cook the other side, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until it’s crispy.

Serve

Finally, serve the dosa hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
