It is important to note that with the arrival of winter and the festival of Diwali, large amounts of sewage and industrial waste are released into the Yamuna River. This leads to the formation of thick foam on the surface of the water. While announcing a waiver scheme for pending water bills at the Delhi secretariat, chief minister Rekha Gupta said that the cleaning and revival work of the Yamuna river is progressing rapidly. she also explained that several initiatives are underway, including the upgradation of existing sewage treatment plants STPs and the invitation of tenders for setting up new ones. Additionally drone mapping is being used to identify and stop the flow of untreated water for drains into the river. the chief minister emphasized that these steps are part of a large mission to rejuvenate the Yamuna and ensure cleaner water in the city. the government aims to make Delhi’s river system sustainable and pollution-free in the coming years.
