Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal made a major claim on Monday ahead of the Delhi elections, accusing the BJP of mixing poison in the water coming to Delhi from Haryana. Kejriwal said, “The BJP government there is adding poison to the Yamuna water coming from Haryana.” Attacking the BJP, he further said, “The country has never seen such dirty politics. If the people of Delhi are not voting for the BJP, will you kill them by giving poisoned water?”

Kejriwal Accuses Haryana Government

Kejriwal praised the engineers of the Water Board for identifying the issue and stopping the water at the border, saying, “If this water had reached Delhi and mixed with drinking water, who knows how many people would have died — it would have been a mass genocide.” Providing more details on the accusations, the former Delhi CM claimed, “This is a type of poison that even Delhi’s water treatment plants can’t clean. This is why one-third of Delhi is facing a water shortage.”

Kejriwal also revealed that, “Atishi Ji and Bhagwant Mann Ji have written a letter to the Election Commission and requested an immediate meeting. I hope the Election Commission will intervene and save the people of Delhi from this disaster.”

Saini Responds to Kejriwal’s Allegations

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini rejected the allegations and hit back at Kejriwal. He said, “Making accusations and then running away is Kejriwal’s habit and thinking… I had said that you (Kejriwal) sent your chief secretary, and I will ask my chief secretary to check the water quality in Sonipat, where the Yamuna enters Delhi. He talks about ammonia and claims there is a water shortage — but there is no problem in the distribution system.” He added, “Instead of making accusations, he should work. Delhi has made its decision, and they will teach him a lesson.”

Election Commission Issues Directive

The Election Commission on Monday sought a factual report from Haryana regarding the allegations made by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP convener Kejriwal about ammonia levels in the water supplied from Haryana. The Chief Ministers of Delhi and Punjab had appealed to the Election Commission regarding the high ammonia levels in the water, claiming it negatively affected the water supply during the election process. The Commission instructed Haryana officials to present a detailed factual assessment of the situation by 12 PM on Tuesday.
