Delhi Assembly Election Updates: Court Notice to CM Atishi and Sanjay Singh, Congress Party Promises Free Electricity up to 300 Units

New Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has issued notices to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh in a defamation case filed by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 27.

In his complaint, Sandeep Dikshit alleged that defamatory remarks were made against him and the congress party during a press conference held in New Delhi on December 26.

Atishi and Sanjay Singh had accused Dikshit of accepting Crores of rupees from the BJP to defeat Arvind Kejriwal. They also claimed that he was conspiring with the BJP to harm the AAP’s prospects.

Congress Announces Three New Guarantees for Delhi Elections

Ahead of the Delhi elections, Congress has introduced three new guarantees for the residents of the capital. On Thursday, the party promised to provide cooking gas cylinders for Rs.500, free ration kits, and up to 300 units of free electricity if it comes to power.

During a press conference, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy assured that Congress would fulfill all its guarantees upon forming the government in Delhi. He was joined by party in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Congress Chief Devendra Yadav.

Congress Guarantees So Far:

Pyari Didi Yojana (January 6)

Under its forts guarantee, congress promised rs.2,500 per month for women in Delhi.

Jeevan Raksha Yojana (January 8)

     The second guarantee included an insaurance cover of rs.25 lakh for every Delhi resident.

Yuva Udaan Yojana (January 13)

Congress announced monthly assistance of rs.8,500 for educated unemployed youth in Delhi for one year.

Rs.500 Cooking Gas Cylinder (January 16)

The party guaranteed subsidized coking gas cylinder at Rs.500.

Free Ration Kits (January 16)

Each kit will include 2kg of sugar, 1 liter of oil, 6 kg of pulses, and 250 grams of tea leaves.

300 Units of Free Electricity (January 16)

Congress also promised to provide 300 units of electricity free of cost to Delhi residents.

The party emphasized that these guarantees reflect its commitment to the welfare of Delhi’s citizens.
