New Delhi: A building collapse in the capital’s Satya Niketan area has left everyone shaken; the mere sight of the incident was enough to make one shudder. Six people have lost their lives in this tragedy, while 11 others were rescued safely. Reports indicate that several people may still be trapped under the debris.
Relief and rescue operations are currently underway. The sight of the building collapsing like a house of cards is enough to give anyone goosebumps. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, leaving onlookers terrified. Upon learning of this tragic event, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta visited the site and expressed her grief.
50-Year-Old Building Collapses
A 50-year-old building suddenly crumbled into rubble, claiming six lives. With reports of people still trapped, the death toll could rise further. The CCTV footage has alarmed everyone; it shows an elderly man sitting calmly at his small stall beneath the building.
Suddenly, debris and dust began falling from above. Within moments, visibility was lost amidst the dust. Then, the five-story building abruptly collapsed, sending a massive cloud of dust billowing in all directions. Witnessing this, bystanders rushed to the scene and immediately alerted the police. NDRF teams and ambulances arrived at the location, and the rescue operation is ongoing.
Major Update from AIIMS
AIIMS has issued a statement sharing significant information. The hospital confirmed that the death toll from the Satya Niketan building collapse has risen to six. Ten patients injured in the collapse were admitted to the JPN Apex Trauma Centre.
Of these ten patients, five were declared ‘brought dead,’ while one patient, who was in critical condition, subsequently passed away. Three patients have been admitted and are undergoing treatment; one has undergone surgery on their limbs. Meanwhile, another patient sustained minor injuries and was discharged after receiving treatment.
CM Rekha Gupta Visited the Site
News of the building collapse came as a shock to everyone. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Delhi Government Minister Kapil Mishra, along with the local MLA and senior officials, arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, the Chief Minister took stock of the relief and rescue operations and instructed officials to ensure there was no laxity in the rescue efforts.
Following this, CM Rekha Gupta went straight to AIIMS, where she inquired about the condition of those injured in the building collapse. During her visit, the Chief Minister spoke with doctors and health officials and issued instructions for the victims to receive free medical treatment.
