New Delhi: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the ruling BJP and the main opposition party in the House, the Samajwadi Party, are engaged in full-swing preparations. A war of words continues between UP CM Yogi Adityanath and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. On Thursday, CM Yogi Adityanath handed over appointment letters to 470 talented individuals under the ‘skilled sportsperson quota’ at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow.
On this occasion, the CM warned the sportspersons about ‘liquor’ and the Samajwadi Party. He handed over the appointment letters to the sports talents selected for the UP Police under the skilled sportsperson quota. While doing so, he attacked the SP, stating that prior to 2017, there was no rule for recruiting sportspersons directly into the police force or any other department.
What did CM Yogi Adityanath say?
UP CM Yogi Adityanath stated that the appointment letter being received today is neither a favour from the government nor an act of benevolence on his part; it is the result of their own talent. No recommendations played a role in the recruitment, no money changed hands, and no syndicate was allowed to dominate the process.
He further added that no recommendations influenced these appointments for sportspersons. No transactions took place, and no syndicate was allowed to hold sway. Only their talent and hard work came to the fore. We have all gathered here today to honour that very talent.
Yogi compares SP to a crocodile..or
Yogi Adityanath remarked that when the Samajwadi Party speaks about the recruitment of youth, it feels as though a crocodile, while sitting in the water, is preaching about peace. You need to be wary of them. Liquor and the SP complement each other. CM Yogi Adityanath recalled a time when life in Uttar Pradesh was confined to the hours between sunrise and sunset; one could not venture out before or after that period.

CM Yogi Adityanath stated that in the ‘New UP,’ sports infrastructure ranging from playgrounds and mini-stadiums to full-scale and international stadiums is being developed at every level, from villages to blocks, districts, and the state as a whole. He extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for a bright future to all the sports talents, noting that the government expects the same level of performance from them in uniform as they previously demonstrated while wearing their sports jerseys. He further added that they have been awarded appointment letters because they lived up to the government’s expectations.
