Protests by the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP) are now taking place across various locations. Students are up in arms over the NET paper leak and have been continuously protesting at Jantar Mantar. In light of this, demonstrations supporting the students and the CJP are being held in places ranging from Delhi to Nagpur. Reports indicate that, given the situation, police have significantly ramped up security forces everywhere, and security arrangements are being strictly monitored. Protests have now spread from Delhi to other states.
Meanwhile, an advisory was issued to all traders in Delhi’s Connaught Place (CP) area due to security concerns, instructing them to close all shops, offices, and restaurants by 6:30 PM; strict compliance was mandated. Additionally, fresh information reveals that the police detained 150 people during the CJP protest in Nagpur, stating that no prior permission had been obtained for the event.
It is worth noting that protests regarding the paper leak have been ongoing at Jantar Mantar since June 20. On Monday, the CJP organized a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament; clashes broke out between the police and students, leaving several injured and creating a highly tense atmosphere. Although the protest at Jantar Mantar continues, and tight security measures have been implemented there, the agitation has now spread to various parts of the country, with people taking to the streets in different locations to protest and support the CJP.
Where have the protests begun?
Beyond Jantar Mantar, protests have started in various other places. Apart from Delhi, crowds have been seen protesting in Mumbai, Nashik, Bihar, Nagpur, and Pune. Apart from this, protests have also begun in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Haryana. The movement now appears to be steadily gaining momentum.
Protests in Nagpur; people detained
Reports indicate that people in Nagpur have taken to the streets to protest against the NEET paper leak; the demonstration saw participation from people of all ages, including the elderly, women, and students. During the protest, demonstrators raised slogans against the government and demanded the resignations of both the Education Minister and PM Modi. Public anger against the government is clearly visible. Around 11 PM, the police began clearing the protest site, and reports have emerged that some individuals were detained during the process.
Nagpur police have detained several protesters. Those detained were taken to an undisclosed location in police vans. It is reported that approximately 150 people have been taken into custody. This indicates that the protest has now spread from Delhi to various other locations.
Opposition also protesting
While thousands are protesting at Jantar Mantar, the opposition remains undeterred following the Congress protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi—where leaders like Rahul Gandhi were detained. On Wednesday, the Congress continued to criticize the government outside Parliament, raising slogans and demanding the Education Minister’s resignation.
