New Delhi: Supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) are staging continuous protests in Delhi over the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, keeping the situation in the capital highly sensitive. The Delhi Police have detained senior CJP leaders. State police and paramilitary forces have been deployed across every corner of New Delhi. Meanwhile, a clash broke out between protesters and the police near Connaught Place, in the vicinity of Jantar Mantar.

Some unruly elements resorted to stone-pelting, injuring two police personnel. The police have detained over 50 protesters from the area. In total, more than 500 people have been detained so far. Questions are being raised about how protesters are managing to reach Delhi despite such heavy security arrangements. However, an eerie silence now prevails at Jantar Mantar.

Stones thrown at police; 50 detained

A clash erupted between the public and the police during the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. An incident of stone-pelting at the police was reported near the PTI building in the New Delhi area. According to initial reports, 50 protesters arrived at the spot and were subsequently detained. It is alleged that the protesters threw stones at the police during the incident, injuring two officers.

Delhi Police denied permission for the protest.

The Delhi Police did not grant permission to the CJP to hold the protest. The police cited three reasons for this decision: first, the late notification regarding the protest; second, the failure to adhere to stipulated conditions during previous protests; and third, concerns regarding law and order and security. The police stated that the CJP provided information on October 7, whereas the protest was scheduled for October 10, meaning the police had only three days to prepare.

What did Dipke’s mother say? Abhijit Dipke, the founder of CJP, was detained right off the plane on Saturday. Dipke’s mother has expressed her displeasure with this police action, stating clearly that the government’s move was wrong. She questioned who would take such action against young people working for the country.

What did CJP say about the detention?

Amidst a planned protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has claimed that three of its leaders, including founder Abhijit Dipke, were detained immediately upon their arrival in Delhi. According to the party, Abhijit Dipke, Sourav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka were taken into custody by the Delhi Police after landing in the capital on Saturday.

Strongly condemning the move, the CJP described it as an authoritarian step. The party alleged that the Delhi Police intercepted its leaders at the airport as part of a pre-planned strategy to prevent them from reaching the protest site and leading the peaceful demonstration.
