Chandrashekhar Azad makes major statement on Gonda murder case
The murder of businessman Vinod Kumar Sahni in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, is now becoming a political issue. Azad Samaj Party chief and MP Chandrashekhar Azad has demanded that the case be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Calling the murder a serious matter, he stressed the need for an impartial investigation.
Chandrashekhar Azad was going to Gonda on Sunday with his supporters to meet the victim’s family. However, the police in Barabanki stopped them from going further. A large number of policemen were deployed and barricades were put up at the spot. After this, Chandrashekhar and his supporters also had a scuffle with the police.
Chandrashekhar alleged that Vinod Sahni had discussed with him his political ambitions and his plans to contest the upcoming assembly elections. On this basis, he demanded that the political aspect of the case should also be investigated and said that a CBI investigation is necessary.
Chandrashekhar Azad was stopped by police while he was on his way to meet his family.

Pallavi Patel met with the family
Samajwadi Party MLA Pallavi Patel visited Gonda and met with Vinod Sahni’s family. She spoke to the family members, expressed her condolences and demanded strict action in the matter.
Pallavi Patel demanded that action should be taken against all the accused involved in the murder without any political pressure. She also demanded action against the accused under the National Security Act (NSA).
Apart from this, she demanded to provide a government job to a member of the victim’s family and to provide adequate compensation and security to the family. She said that she will stand with the family until they get justice.
Gonda has witnessed protests before.
Large-scale protests erupted in Gonda after Vinod Sahni’s death. A large number of people took to the streets and demanded strict action against the accused. Amidst the anger of the family and local people, the administration had to give assurance on many demands.
In this case, the police had initially arrested three accused. Later, as the investigation progressed, information about the arrest of another accused came to light. Police are also investigating other aspects related to the case.
Questions have also been raised on the role of the police in the matter. Following allegations of negligence, three policemen, including the Parsapur police station in-charge, were suspended and departmental action was initiated against them.

The case has taken a political turn.
Following the businessman’s murder, leaders from various political parties in Uttar Pradesh have come out in support of the family. BJP ally Nishad Party chief and state minister Sanjay Nishad also staged a protest demanding strict action in the case.
Leaders from the Samajwadi Party also visited Gonda in support of the family. Party President Akhilesh Yadav had spoken to the victim’s family member over the phone and assured him of support.
Now, the issue has come into more political discussion after Chandrashekhar Azad demanded a CBI inquiry and Pallavi Patel demanded NSA, government job, compensation and security. Different parties are putting pressure on the government to take fair and strict action.
