New Delhi: The CBI is currently taking significant action by investigating corruption-related cases. In a major move, the agency conducted an operation at a DGFT office in Haryana, arresting Assistant Director Hemlata while she was accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. Following the arrest, a CBI team conducted a search operation lasting approximately 5 to 6 hours at the DGFT office located at Ramlal Chowk. The Assistant Director was arrested in Panipat.
Simultaneously, investigative activities were conducted at the accused’s residence in Delhi. According to the complainant, the Assistant Director had demanded a bribe in exchange for rectifying discrepancies in a client’s EPCG file and securing its approval. Upon receiving this complaint, the CBI registered a case on August 19 and initiated action.
CBI Lays an Elaborate Trap
The CBI devised an elaborate plan for this case. After verifying the complaint, the agency set a trap and apprehended the accused. Subsequently, a search of documents and other records was conducted at the Ramlal Chowk office for about five hours. The team’s operations were not limited to the Panipat office alone.
Investigation and search operations are also underway at the accused’s residence in Delhi. Based on facts emerging during the investigation, the roles of other individuals are also expected to come under scrutiny.
Bribery Case Against Another Senior Official
On August 13, the CBI had also registered a case against a Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer of the South East Central Railway in Bhilai. The official was accused of demanding a bribe of ₹2 lakh to approve the complainant’s pending bills. He later allegedly agreed to accept a bribe of ₹1 lakh.
Official Arrested While Accepting ₹50,000 Bribe.
The CBI subsequently executed a trap operation on August 13. According to the investigative agency, the Senior DME was arrested while accepting ₹50,000 as the first instalment of a bribe demanded from the complainant. It is alleged that this amount was collected through a middleman.

The middleman had accepted the money from the complainant at the officer’s behest. Subsequently, the CBI conducted searches at the accused officer’s residences and offices in Raipur and Bhilai. According to the CBI, approximately ₹77 lakh in cash was recovered during the searches. Additionally, jewellery worth around ₹14 lakh was also found.
It is worth noting that the CBI has been consistently taking action in corruption-related cases. Recently, an officer was arrested in Hyderabad for accepting a bribe. This latest action in Haryana signals the agency’s strict stance against corruption.
