Bhartiya janta party has demanded for the resignation letter from both sonia and rahul gandhi. BJP demanded congress leader to resign from the parliamentary positions until all the details about their alleged links with italian middleman ottavio quattrocchi are revealed. Recently Bjp spokesperson gaurav bhatia referre to journalist chitra subramaniam’s book bofors gate, which reportedly exposes key details about the scandal. he alleged that quattrochi used his close ties with then prime minister rajiv gandhi and his wife sonia gandh to influence the defense deal.
Bofors Scandal resurfaced
According to the details, Congress party has not responded to these allegations yet. for a long time, allegations have been made that ottavio quattrocchi had close ties with sonia gandhi, who is of italian origin, and that he used these connections for business profit in India. according to the information, quattrocchi was a key accused in the cbi’s long running investigation into the alleged bribery in the 1987 bofors gun deal, which was first reported by swedish government radio. journalist chitra subhramaniam later published the reports on this matter. where bjp spokesperson gaurav bhatia also said, in the press conference that ottavio quattrocchi used his iinfluence to make the changes favoring certain companies in defense contracts. where he also revealed that during the tenure of rajiv gandhi when he was a prime minister, defense related files were taken to quattrocchi, where he used his influence over it.
Now, BJP party has demanded the resignation letter from both of the congress leaders Sonia and rajiv gandhi. Also, BJP demanded that congress president Mallikarjun kharge and the current party leadership clarify wheather this was a violation of rajiv gandhi’s oath of office.
BJP Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia Stated, in the year of 2005 during the congress led UPA Government, the CBI lifted the freeze on quattrocchi’s bank accounts at Sonia gandhi’s direction.
