The Bihar Assembly election has ended, and the NDA has secured a clear majority. The BJP won the highest number of seats at 89, while the JD (U) secured 85 seats. On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan suffered a major defeat. Congress, a part of the alliance, managed to win only 6 seats. After this poor performance, several Congress leaders have started giving statements, calling for serious self-analysis within the party. Many leaders believe the party needs to review its strategy and understand the reasons behind this disappointing result.
Congress MP from Thiruvanantapuram, Shashi Tharoor, said that he was not invited to campaign in the Bihar elections. he also mentioned that the Congress party will examine the reasons behind its defeat. After the results, Tharoor stated that it is the party’s responsibility to study the causes of this loss in detail. He added, Remember, we were not the senior partner in the alliance, and the RJD also needs to review its own performance. Expressing his disappointment, Tharoor said, I was not there and I was not invited to campaign in Bihar. So I cannot say much from personal experience. Those who were present will definitely study the results. He further added that in a mandate like Bihar, it is important for the party to thoroughly examine its overall performance and understand what went wrong.
Congress leader Mumtaz Patel also strongly criticized the party’s defeat on the social media platform X. She wrote, No excuses, no blame game, no simple self-reflection. This is the time to look within and accept reality. How long will loyal ground-level workers, who have been waiting to see success? Instead, failures continue because power remains concentrated in the hands of a few people. Her post reflects growing frustration among party members after the Bihar election results.
What Shakeel Ahmed Said?
Former Bihar Minister Shakeel Ahmed also openly spoke about Congress’s shortcomings. he said, I am not in Congress anymore, so i have no right to comment, but soon after ticket distribution, many senior Congress leaders help a press conference and said that tickets were given for the wrong reasons. They even raised allegations of financial irregularities and other issues. We hope there will be an investigation, and if the allegations are true and tickers were given due to improper reasons, then action must be taken against those responsible. His remarks highlight internal concern within the party.
