Adani Power Reports Strong Q4 Results as It Shifts Toward Nuclear Energy

Adani Power, India’s largest private thermal power producer, has released its financial results for the quarter and year ending March 2026. The big takeaway: Adani is moving fast to grow beyond coal, setting its sights on nuclear energy as a new frontier for the company.

Profit Surges Even as Revenue Stays Flat

Adani Power released its results for the March quarter, and the numbers show an interesting story. Revenue came in at ₹14,223 crore, basically unchanged from last year. You’d think with higher power demand – thanks to summer arriving early – the company would rake in more sales. But things like changes in regulatory income and the mix of power purchases kept revenue flat.

The real highlight, though, is Adani Power’s profit. Net profit shot up by 64%, reaching ₹4,271 crore compared to ₹2,599 crore the year before. The jump comes mainly from lower fuel costs and better operations. Adani sold 27.2 billion units of electricity this quarter, a 3% increase over last year’s 26.4 billion.

For the financial year ending March, revenue went down just a bit, about 3.5% to ₹54,241 crore. Even so, Adani still managed to post an annual profit of ₹12,971 crore, which is slightly better than last year’s result.

Adani Takes Its First Steps Into Nuclear Energy

Beyond the financials, Adani Power made a major move. This quarter marks the company’s entry into nuclear power, a first for private firms in India. The government’s SHANTI Act opened the door in 2025, and now Adani is jumping in.

They’ve set up two new subsidiaries: Coastal-Maha Atomic Energy Limited and Rawatbhata-Raj Atomic Energy Limited. Adani is also talking with NPCIL (Nuclear Power Corporation of India) to bring in “Bharat Small Reactors.” These reactors are designed in India and can be deployed quickly.

Nuclear energy gives Adani a way to deliver steady, clean electricity all day and night. Unlike solar and wind, which only work part of the time, nuclear can run nonstop. It’s a key piece in India’s plan to reach net-zero emissions by 2070.

Big Investments Fueling Expansion

To pay for these new moves, Adani Power’s board has approved a plan to raise a lot of money. They’ll raise ₹5,000 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement, and also increase their borrowing limit to ₹11,000 crore. Some of that money will cut expensive debt, and some will support a massive capacity expansion. The goal: reach 30.6 GW by 2030, which is twice their current capacity.

Why Investors Are Paying Attention

Even with revenue holding steady, Adani Power’s stock has been performing well, close to its 52-week high. Investors are focusing on the jump in profit and new contracts, like the 1,600 MW long-term supply deal with Maharashtra, as proof that the company’s on solid ground.

Adani’s power plants are running efficiently, breaking national averages when it comes to their Plant Load Factor. Big global companies are praising Adani’s push into nuclear power, seeing it as a smart way to diversify and strengthen its business for the future.

New Image for Adani Power

Adani Power is clearly leaving behind its old image as a thermal power player. With new laws, fresh capital, and a big nuclear push, the company is putting itself at the center of India’s energy shift.

For anyone watching, the story is no longer about one quarter’s sales. It’s about Adani’s next decade – turning into a major source of reliable power and helping India reduce its emissions. As nuclear energy opens up to private firms, Adani wants to be the leader.
