The yogi government is all set to bring smiles to the faces of millions of mothers and sisters in Uttar Pradesh this Diwali. Under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana, the state government has decided to provide two free LPG cylinder refills to families from economically weaker sections and deprived communities. this initiative aims to ease the financial burden on these households and make festive cooking more affordable. chief minister yogi Adityanath will officially launch the scheme at the Lok Bhavan auditorium on Wednesday. eligible women will receive the free cylinder refills as a special gift from the government. this step reflects the state’s commitment to supporting women and ensuring that celebrations like Diwali are joyful and stress-free for all.
According to the government, 1.86 crore mohers and sisters in uttar pradesh will recieve the two free LPG refill cylinder under this scheme. The first phase will run from october 2025 to December 2025, while the second phase will continue from January 2026 to March 206. this means beneficiaries will get one free cylinder during diwali and another during holi, making festive cooking easier and more affordable. to implement the scheme in 2025-26, the yogi government has allocated rs.1,500 crore. this intiative aims to support economically weaker families and ensure women can celebrate major festivals without financial stress, reflecting state government’s commitment to welfare and empowerment to women across Uttar pradesh.
According to the government, in the first phase during Diwali 1.23 crore Aadhar verified beneficiaries will receive the free LPG cylinder benefit. the subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank accounts. this means that hen a beneficiary purchases a cooking gas cylinder during Diwali, they will have the money available for the refill. beneficiaries can buy a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder at the prevailing consumer price including subsidy. within 3-4 days, the subsidy amount will be credited to their Aadhar linked bank accounts. both the central ad stage governments will transfer their respective subsidy portions. Those with 5 kg cylinder can opt for a 14.2 kg cylinder, and even individuals with the single connection are eligible for the scheme, ensuring maximum reach.
Committees at state and district levels will monitor the scheme. the state committee will review progress regularly, while district committees, led by district magistrate, will hold weekly meetings. a grievance redressal system will address consumer complaints, ensuring smooth implementation, timely benefits and transparency for all eligible beneficiaries.
