Ingredients for Chole (Chickpea Curry)
- 1 cup dried chickpeas (chole)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp amchur (dry mango powder)
- 1 tsp red chili powder
 Salt, to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tbsp oil
- Water
Ingredients for Bhature (Fried Bread)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)
- 2 tbsp semolina (suji)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp yogurt
- Water (as required)
- Oil for frying
 Method of Cooking
Soak the Chickpeas

First, you need to soak the chickpeas in water overnight. After that, take a pressure cooker, add the soaked chickpeas, and cook them by adding water and cooking them until you hear 4-5 whistles (pressure).
Cook the Masala
Now, take a non-stick pan, heat 1 tsp of oil in it, and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add finely chopped onions and cook them until they turn golden brown.
Add Tomatoes and Spices
After the onions are browned, add pureed tomatoes along with the following spices: turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Add salt to taste. Let the spices cook and blend well.
Combine Chickpeas with Masala
Now, mix the cooked chickpeas into this masala and stir well. Add water if required to adjust the consistency. Let the mixture simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes.
Garnish and Serve
Once done, garnish the dish with freshly chopped cilantro.
