Following the central government’s GST Council’s announcement of a reduction in the goods and services tax for automobile categories, automakers Honda Cars India, Jeep India, and Bajaj Auto made the decision to lower their vehicle prices on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
According to a previous Mint story, the GST Council voted to reduce the goods and services tax (GST) to 18% for compact cars up to 4 meters in length and with an engine capacity of 1,200cc. However, a 40% tax rate will apply to passenger cars longer than 4 meters and with an engine capacity greater than 1,500 cc. Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) declared that, as of September 22, 2025, it will fully benefit its clients from the recently announced GST Reforms 2025. Honda Cars India declared on Tuesday that it would pass on the GST rate reduction to customers by lowering car pricing by up to ₹95,500. According to the firm, starting on September 22, 2025, the costs of the small sedans “Honda Amaze” and “Honda City” would be lowered by up to ₹95,500, ₹57,500, and ₹58,400, respectively.
