What is the E-Shram Card?

The E-Shram Card is a digital card issued under the E-Shram Portal, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It is designed to register unorganized workers across India, including street vendors, construction workers, agricultural laborers, domestic workers, and other daily wage earners.

Each registered worker receives a unique 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN), which helps in tracking employment history, accessing government schemes, and ensuring direct benefit transfers.

₹3000 Monthly Benefit: What’s the Plan?

Under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM), E-Shram card holders between the ages of 18 and 40 years can voluntarily enroll in a pension scheme. Upon reaching the age of 60, they will be eligible to receive a monthly pension of ₹3000. This scheme aims to provide old-age security for workers who may not have access to a regular income or retirement fund.

To avail of the ₹3000 monthly pension, the worker must contribute a small amount every month (ranging from ₹55 to ₹200 depending on age) till they turn 60. The Government of India contributes an equal amount to the worker’s pension fund, making it a co-contributory scheme.
