Thiruvananthapuram–Delhi Congress MP Venugopal claims another aircraft was on the same runway as an Air India flight makes an emergency landing in Chennai, citing a technical issue.
According to Congress MP KC Venugopal, an Air India flight from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, to Delhi avoided an accident when another plane arrived on the same runway after the original flight was diverted to Chennai because of an issue.

Shortly after taking off from Thiruvananthapuram, the flight, AI 2455, carrying him and other MPs, encountered turbulence, according to KC Venugopal. The flight departed Thiruvananthapuram at approximately 8 PM and touched down in Chennai at approximately 10.35 PM, according to Flightradar24.com.
Venugopal shared a social media post about the incident, saying that “talent and luck” saved the airplane after it came “frighteningly near to catastrophe.”
On Sunday evening, Air India aircraft AI2455, which was traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi, made an emergency landing in Chennai. Bad weather and technical issues were the airline’s excuses.

Congress MP KC Venugopal, one of the passengers, wrote on X that another plane was parked on the runway when the initial attempt to land in Chennai was made. The pilot successfully made a second effort at landing the aircraft safely after raising it back into the air. The flight carried a large number of people, including several MPs. The flight almost had an accident. A great catastrophe was avoided.
In response, Air India stated that there were no other aircraft on the runway.
Air India responded to K.C. Venugopal’s post on X by writing: We would like to make it clear that the flight was diverted to Chennai as a precaution because of aircraft technical difficulties and bad weather. At Chennai Airport, Chennai Air Traffic Control (ATC) issued a go-around order during the initial landing attempt. Another plane on the runway was not the cause of this.
