Tips
The rainy season brings cool breezes, pleasant weather, and the joy of sipping tea with crispy biscuits. But the same season also brings high humidity, which is not a friend of your favorite crunchy snacks. One of the biggest challenges during monsoon is keeping biscuits from turning soggy and losing their crispness. But don’t worry by following a few simple and practical tips, you can enjoy your biscuits crispy all season long.

1. Store in an Airtight Container
The first and most important rule is to store biscuits in a proper airtight container. Avoid keeping them in open packets or loosely covered jars. Humidity in the air during monsoon can quickly soften biscuits. Glass or stainless-steel containers with tight lids work best, as they don’t let moisture seep in.
2. Use Silica Gel or Salt to Absorb Moisture
If you’ve ever noticed small white packets inside new shoes or bags, that’s silica gel. These packets absorb moisture from the air and can be reused in your biscuit jars too. Just place one in the container (but not in direct contact with the biscuits). Don’t have silica gel? No problem just take a clean cloth, add a spoon of salt, tie it up like a small pouch, and place it in the jar. Salt naturally absorbs moisture and keeps the container dry.
3. Never Store Biscuits in the Refrigerator
It may seem like the fridge will protect your biscuits, but it actually does the opposite. Refrigerators are full of moisture, which can make your biscuits soft and chewy. Always store them in a cool, dry place like a kitchen cabinet or shelf away from direct sunlight and steam.

4. Re-Crisp Biscuits in the Oven
If your biscuits have already become soft, don’t throw them away. You can restore their crispiness by baking them for a few minutes. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F), spread the biscuits on a tray, and heat for 3–5 minutes. Let them cool completely before storing again in an airtight jar.
5. Don’t Mix Different Types of Biscuits
Avoid storing different kinds of biscuits (cream-filled, salty, sweet) in the same container. Cream biscuits may release moisture or oils that can affect the texture of others. Keep each variety in a separate airtight box.
Conclusion
With a little care and smart storage, you can keep your biscuits crispy even during the dampest days of the rainy season. So next time it rains, you can enjoy your cup of tea with the perfect crunchy bite!
