Recently, PM Modi visited Tamil Nadu for the inauguration of India’s First ever Vertical lift sea bridge. On the occasion of Ram Navmi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited there. he inaugurated the much-awaited new pamban rail bridge, which is india’s first vertical lift sea bridge. the bridge connects the mainland to rameshwaram island. it is a modern symbol of improved coastal connectivity and innovation. along with this bridge, pm modi also flagged off a new train service between rameshwaram and tambaram chennai. The bridge is around 2 kilometers long built at a cost of over rs700 crore, the 2.08 kilometer long bridge has 99 spans. it features a modern 72.5 meter vertical lift section. this life mechanism allows the bridge to rise up to 17 meters, helping ships to pass through easily while also ensuring smooth movements of trains.

Design of this Bridge
This new bridge in tamil nadu is specially designed, nearly 2 kilometer long sea bridge has been specially designed using stainless steel reinforcement, corrosion resistant polysiloxane coating and fully welded joints strong and durable for a long time. it is built to withstand the harsh marine environment, reducing the need for frequent maintenance. the use of modern materials and texhniques ensures that the bridges remains safe and efficient for both train operations and marine traffic, making it a reliable addition to india’s coastal infrastructure.
After inaugurating the bridge, prime minister modi is expected to visit the sacred ramanathaswamy temple in rameshwaram for prayers. laters, he will lay the foundation stones and dedicate carious rail and road projects worth over 8,300 crore to the nation. these projects include the expansion of key natioanl highways aimed at improving connectivity in tamil nadu. major developments include wdening the 28km walajapet ranipet stretch of nh-40 to four lanes, the 29 km villupuram puducherry stretch of nh-332 to four lanes dedicating the 57km poondiyankuppam sattanathapuram section of nh-32 and the 48 km cholapuram-thanjavur stretch of nh36.
