According to the recent reports, Uttar Pradesh has decided to discontinue physical stamp papers worth rupees 10,000 to Rs.25,000. Instead, as of now, only the e-stamps will be used for the works. Recent reports suggest, that the notification for the continuation of e-stamps will be issues soon, after the everyone will be using the e-stamps for the work purpose, and there will no Physical e-stamp paper will be working. On Monday, the cabinet approved this proposal to stop physical e-stamp paper and continuation of e-stamp papers. This proposal was offered by the stamp and registration department.. According to the up’s government this step will help t prevent many types of fraud and scams. which will ultimately enhance the increase the transparency. As per the details, physical stamp papers worth more than Rs.5,000 has been declining in treasuries. Where in october, 2024 stamps paper worth of rs.5,630.87 crore, ranging from Rs.5000 to Rs.25,000 were still available in state treasuries. In a meeting held on october 14, 2024.
A committee led by the finance secretary agreed to destroyed the non judicial stamp papers valued above than the rs.5000 stored in the treasuries. As of now, the cabinet has taken this major decision to discontinue the Physical stamp papers and instead of these e-stamps paper will be in use. In the recent meeting on moday, the deciosn was taken that stamp papers worth of Rs.10,000 to rs.25,000 will be officially discontinued. Where a notification for this decision will be issued soon. after the notification, continuation of physical stamp papers will be stopped. Cabinet took the decison to prevent the fraud and scams taking over these days. Also, any stamp papers in treasuries will be destroyed to prevent misuse. According to the reports, stamp papers purchased before the notification date can be used or returned only until the march 31, 2025. After the notification, these stamp papers will not be working. Only the e-stamp papers will be in use. Minister of state for stamp and registration give the information about the notification.
Recently, Minister of state and registration Ravindra Jaiswal, stated that the notification will be out soon, or it will be issues in one to two days. He assured that if anyone has stamp papers worth Rs.10,000 to rs.25,000 or some between this cost, then they will be able to return these without any major financial loss. But after the notifiaction, that will not be applicable.
