PM Modi posted on his social media handle ‘X’ and specially congratulated young voters who are eligible to vote for the first time. He reminded everyone to follow the mantra: “Vote first, then eat.”

Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections started at 7 AM. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the voters of Delhi to cast their valuable votes.

In a post on ‘X,’ he specially congratulated young voters who are eligible to vote for the first time. He reminded everyone to follow the mantra: “Pehle Matdaan, Phir Jalpaan.”

Fate of 699 Candidates to Be Decided

Voting is underway for all 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is trying to retain power for a third term based on its governance and welfare schemes. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are aiming to return to power. Around 1.56 crore eligible voters will exercise their voting rights in this election, which is expected to shape the future of Delhi’s politics. A total of 699 candidates are contesting, and voting is taking place at 13,766 polling stations across all 70 assembly constituencies.

Voters Lining Up at Polling Stations

All eyes are on Delhi’s voters, as voter turnout will play a crucial role in the election outcome. People continue to arrive at polling stations to cast their votes. In the 2020 Assembly elections, voter turnout was 62.59%, while in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it was only 56%. Voting will continue until 6 PM.

Tight Security Arrangements

The Election Commission has made strict security arrangements to ensure smooth voting. 220 companies of paramilitary forces, 35,626 Delhi Police personnel, and 19,000 Home Guards have been deployed.

Around 3,000 polling stations have been marked as sensitive, with special security measures in place, including drone surveillance at some locations. Delhi Police has deployed additional forces at sensitive booths and has also stationed Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to maintain law and order.
