Bhastrika Pranayama
Bhastrika Pranayama is beneficial for conditions like hypertension, asthma, heart diseases, tuberculosis, tumors, high blood pressure, liver cirrhosis, sinus problems, energy issues, and lung health. This breathing exercise is done in three ways. In the first method, inhale for 5 seconds and exhale for 5 seconds. In the second, inhale for 2.5 seconds and exhale for 2.5 seconds. In the third, breathe in and out quickly. Practice this pranayama continuously for 5 minutes.
Anulom Vilom
Anulom Vilom has a positive effect on the respiratory system and helps keep the lungs healthy. Sit comfortably with your spine straight and close your eyes. First, place your thumb on your right nostril. Gently block the nostril and slowly exhale through your left nostril. After exhaling completely, take a brief pause, then place your ring finger on your left nostril. Repeat this process at least 5 times. This practice also helps improve skin health, manage diabetes, and keep the digestive system fit.
Bhramari Pranayama
Bhramari Pranayama enhances lung function and provides relief from problems like asthma or bronchitis. It improves the flow of oxygen and strengthens the immune system, helping keep the body free from diseases. To begin, sit in a comfortable position like Padmasana. Take a deep breath in, and then place your fingers on your forehead. Close your eyes with three fingers, block your ears with your thumbs, and keep your mouth closed while making the sound “Om.” This pranayama can be practiced 3 to 21 times. It helps relieve stress and calms the mind.
Kapalbhati
Kapalbhati increases the lung’s capacity to hold air. It benefits the lungs, improves digestion, boosts metabolism, and helps with detoxification. To begin, sit in Sukhasana and close your eyes. Take a deep breath in through both nostrils. Then exhale forcefully through the nose while inhaling gently. Repeat this process at least 20 times.
