Similarly, there is another popular story according to which King Prithu fasted to get a boon from Lord Vishnu and said that he wanted to do this fast for the welfare of his subjects, after which King Prithvi worked for the welfare of his subjects throughout his life and all the people lived their lives happily and peacefully in his kingdom.
