New Delhi: The alignment of relations between India and the United States on the global stage continues to improve. Recently, the U.S. provided relief to India regarding tariff policies concerning its oil purchases from Russia. Meanwhile, further news has emerged that promises to be beneficial for the business communities of both nations. Negotiations for a trade agreement, which have been ongoing for over a year, are now in their final stages.

A major trade agreement between the two countries is expected soon. U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that both nations are nearing the finalisation of the deal. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also expressed optimism that the agreement could be concluded within a few weeks. According to him, discussions will now focus on technical details, and both sides must reach a consensus on the specific language for every term of the agreement.

A major agreement with India is coming soon – Donald Trump

According to a Bloomberg report, President Donald Trump, while speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, remarked that he intends to reach an agreement with India. “We will make a deal. Yes, we are very close,” he said. Trump further noted that this agreement might differ significantly from previous ones.

He did not provide specific details regarding the nature of the agreement or potential changes. The U.S. Ambassador to India has also offered positive signals; speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi, the Ambassador indicated that work on the major issues of the agreement has been completed, suggesting that both countries are very close to finalising the deal.

What S. Jaishankar said

India’s Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, has also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing discussions with the United States. He noted that both countries appear to be moving toward finalising the agreement. These statements indicate that both sides have intensified efforts to reach a consensus on long-standing, unresolved trade issues.

Agreement to be finalised in a few weeks – Rubio

In an interview, Marco Rubio stated that India and the United States would work to finalise their agreements within a few weeks. He further noted that before any agreement is announced, it is essential to ensure that both sides interpret the language of every term in the same way and are in full agreement.

Rubio remarked that the agreement is very close to completion. “In my view, there are a few technical nuances that still need to be resolved,” he said, adding that these technical details are also significant, as it is crucial for both sides to reach a consensus.
